THERE'S ALWAYS SOMETHING NEW 'OUT OF AFRICA'
Pliny's famous line is as true now as ever, with still wild
places to discover. We have over a quarter of a century's
experience in the southern part of Africa, and enjoy the reputation
to match. We travel repeatedly to Botswana, Namibia, and South
Africa and have arranged countless African safaris to the
region.
We at Temple World think Botswana has a greater wilderness
appeal than anywhere else (but see below!). The game viewing
is excellent, enjoyed in much greater solitude than East Africa.
The scenery is the ancient plains and wooded dunes of the
Kalahari Desert and the great wetlands of the the Okavango
Delta. It is spectacular.
Probably the ultimate African wilderness, Namibia is scenically
stunning. The ephemeral rivers which slice through the dramatic
escarpment act as highways for the rare desert elephant and
black rhino, still in a primal state, unmanaged, unfenced.
And Etosha Pan offers some of the best wildlife experiences
anywhere!
Although modern roads and hotels have opened up even the
most distant parts, it has not detracted from the largeness
of it all – Zululand, Kruger National Park- nothing
can diminish the feeling of timelessness of the South African
bush, an experience once enjoyed, never forgotten - so many
travellers have the feeling that it gets into the blood. And
of course there’s Cape Town, the ‘Mediterranean’
of southern Africa.
For culture and scenery, add Swaziland to your tour. It’s
the ‘Switzerland of Africa’ and with a rich heritage
of a proud nation. And now across the border Mozambique is
rapidly opening up to tourism with a huge coastline along
the Indian Ocean.
